Some of us are homebound and rarely get to visit with a friend or even family. When we do have that opportunity, we feel better both physically and mentally and have a brighter outlook on life. Studies show that people have improved mental and physical health when having an active social life.
Helpline’s Friendly Visitor program matches clients 60 years of age or older, or others who are homebound, with a volunteer of like interests. The volunteer visits the client about an hour to two a week just to chat, share a television program, read the newspaper together or whatever the pleasure of the client.
A client can refer themselves or be referred by a family member, friend or other person who believes the person would benefit from this program. An intake is performed with the client to make sure the match is a successful one.
Please call 908-782-4357 for more information and connect someone to a friend today. This program is free.
Volunteers always needed! A background check fee of $20 is required.
The Hunterdon County Board of Chosen Freeholders Title III, along with corporate, foundation and individual support, contribute to the funding of this service.
