Telephone Reassurance not only reassures the client who is 60+ years or has a disability and is home-bound, but also the caregiver.
Our clients are called once or several times a day to ensure that they are well, have taken their medication or eaten a meal. Sometimes, the phone call just social, providing the client with the only link to another human being and information about the community. Should the client not answer for an hour, our staff contacts their “emergency responder” – a friend or relative – or the police should no one else be available to make sure all is well.
Hunterdon Helpline, through this service, has saved lives many times over. The service is free and anyone can refer their self or be referred by a loved one, neighbor, friend, social worker or other member of the community.
